As London prepares to host the world in 2012, East London, and the borough of Newham in particular, is at a tipping point. The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have put Newham in the international spotlight and are driving change at an unprecedented pace.
With an abundance of land for development, world-class transport and digital infrastructure, and a young, energetic and increasingly skilled workforce, the borough is ideally placed to accommodate much of London's eastwards growth in the 21st century. By 2025 it is envisaged that a minimum of £22 billion will have been invested in the area, creating more than 35,000 new homes and 100,000 new jobs.
Ambitious and impressive projects already completed or underway demonstrate the existing commitment from global investors making their mark in Newham. In Stratford the game-changing Olympic Park and Westfield Stratford City herald an exciting future for the north of the borough, the regeneration of Canning Town and Custom House continues to add to an exciting skyline, while the wholesale redevelopment of the Royal Docks with its recently awarded Enterprise Zone status will soon see the completion of the iconic £60million Siemens Crystal global sustainability centre and Britain's first urban cable car crossing the Thames from ExCeL to the O2 Arena.
As development and investment in the UK's capital moves steadily eastwards, Newham is set to become a new heart for London. This is your chance to be a part of it.
