New Shed Inclusive Theatre

New Shed is an inclusive young people's theatre, which came about through Chickenshed's Shedlinks programme in 2001. As an inclusive company we believe that every individual has something unique to offer. Everyone in our company is treated equally and has an equal role to play.

New Shed offers a place where children can become valuable members of the company, exploring their creativity and working inclusively with their peers. Parents can feel secure in the knowledge that their children will not only be safe, but will also be happy and included in all the activities which are completely accessible to all.

Having the opportunity to work alongside people whose experiences may be very different to their own allows them to see things in a new way and therefore challenges our their conceptions of the world around them. New Shed aims to celebrate the uniqueness of every one of its members.

Our weekly performing arts sessions help members to develop skills, building on their own strengths and those of others for the benefit of the whole company. We provide a supportive atmosphere in which members can explore new ways of communicating and, using the varied talents of our practitioners; we are able to offer a wide variety of activities for the young people to participate in. In doing this we hope to develop skills in young people that will benefit them and the society in which they live for the future.

We operate weekly on Thursday evenings (6.15-7.15pm) at Discover in Stratford (1 Bridge Terrace, E15 4BG). Sessions are only £2, or £1.50 if paid for in advance.

The steel girders of "Railway Tree" are shaped like railway lines and are intended to remind us of Stratford's past connection with industry and the railways.
