England's World Cup statue immortalises the team's 1966 victory. It depicts Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Ray Wilson holding aloft the former captain of England Bobby Moore, as he proudly shows off the famous World Cup trophy. The players were all West Ham players at the time of the win.
At four metres high it is a prominent sight at the corner of Green Street and Barking Road. Designed and crafted by renowned British artist Philip Jackson, the four tonne Champions sculpture captures the historic sporting moment.
Financial contributors to the Champions project include the London Borough of Newham, West Ham United Football Club, Green Street SRB, Arts Council for England, and Arts & Business.
