Winter Walks!

The London Borough of Newham has developed four walks around the borough, over the winter period, there will be a series of guided walks. These are a great opportunity to find out more about the local area, meet new people and walk yourself to fitness.

Why not take a guided walk around Newham this winter?

The Newham ambassadors will guide the walks, this will be a great opportunity for them to try out their new skills. As a special offer, these walks are free of charge, although donations to the Mayor's charity would be welcomed.

Each walk lasts just over an hour, we will provide a stop off with a hot drink for all participants.

Stratford Walk

Meet at DLR Pontoon Dock Station.

If the morning walks fill to capacity there will be another in the afternoon, please call for details.

The walks will go ahead whatever the weather, in the case of rain, bring an umbrella. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any access requirements, please let us know.

If you would like to take go on the walks independently of a guide, they can be done at any time by downloading a map and an audio guide.

Top tips for winter walks

  • Wrap up warm, wear plenty of layers, a hat, scarf and gloves are useful
  • Take a bottle of water with you
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Take care when crossing roads, and keep children close by

West Ham players in England's World Cup victory

Champions Sculpture

England's World Cup statue immortalises the team's 1966 victory. It depicts Sir Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and Ray Wilson holding aloft the former captain of England Bobby Moore, as he proudly shows off the famous World Cup trophy.
