1,400 runners competed in the inaugural Newham Classic 10k, the first ever event on the Olympic site, with Florian Neuschwander winning the event in a speedy 30.14, and Charlotte Peppiatt leading home the females with an impressive 39. 33.
The Fun Day offered something for everyone with a diverse range of events and displays from extreme sports such as BMX and skateboarding to ballroom dancing and the arts keeping the punters entertained.
Newham Mayor, Sir Robin Wales, said: "Newham prides itself on communities doing things together, keeping active together and getting to know one another.
"The Newham Classic 10k and Fun Day has been a great way for residents to become more active and engaged across Newham in the lead up to London 2012.
"I thank everyone involved for the great effort they have put in to make the Newham Classic and Fun Day such a huge success.
"The response from the people of Newham has been terrific and I look forward to next year's event which will be bigger and better."
