Local families were invited to take part in workshops with professional artists. These had an environmental theme to encourage children and parents to consider the impacts of climate change and how they can live sustainably.
The day was part of East Thames' ongoing efforts to limit its impact on the environment, and promote sustainability among residents. A new collection, called Breathe, opened in East Gallery last month which has environment at its centre. Ten local artists interpreted the theme and their work is available to view in the gallery from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, in the foyer of East Thames' head office.
The Arts Day was organised by East Thames' Arts and Culture team, manager Jonathan Pauling said: "It was a great day for all involved. It was lovely to see children and parents enjoying the gallery space in the new building and getting engaged in creative activities. The work really inspired everyone there to think about their environment and how they can make small changes in their life to tackle climate change."
