The event was the culmination of a week-long project where Year Ten students put on their thinking caps to set up a business enterprise.
The students worked in teams of six to come up with imaginative and environmentally friendly schemes that could boost their community, improve quality of life, make money or raise awareness of a particular issue.
They presented their ideas to an audience of students and a panel of judges at the school's arts and technology centre in Grosvenor Road, Forest Gate.
Their business ideas included energy-saving eco-friendly lamps, sensors and lights; protective clothing against attacks; an on-line neighbourhood restaurant guide; using old car parts to make furniture; using waste ground to make temporary sports pitches and gyms where by using the equipment you generated electricity which meant lower fees.
Mayor Sir Robin Wales said: "Newham has some amazingly creative young people. This project has allowed students to have some fun as well as come up with thought-provoking business ideas.
"They have displayed their team building and problem solving skills and I have been amazed at the wealth of business acumen they have displayed. Some of them may want to consider applying for grant aid to develop their ideas."
