Judo, meaning "gentle way", is a modern Japanese martial art and combat sport that originated in Japan in the late nineteenth century

The pair who started playing Judo at the Durning Hall Club in Forest Gate, now train at Willesden Judo Club and receive funding and support from the Newham Sports Academy.

Despite receiving support from the British Judo Association, training and competing internationally requires around £5000 per year.

Theo and Jermaine both suffered early exits at the hands of a world class field. Both will be hoping for better results at the U20 World Championship in Bangkok next month.

A good performance at the Worlds, will also mean Jermaine travels to Australia in January 2009 for the Youth Olympic Festival.
