Black History Month

Black History Month begins on October 1, when the black and minority ethnic community invite everyone to join in a celebration of their achievements and contribution to Britain.

An evening with Yasus Afari
(author, poet and philosopher)

As part of the National Year of Reading, Yasus shares his experiences in writing his Jamaican bestseller Overstanding Rastafari.

Music for Change presents Windrush 60

Alexander D' Great hosts an interactive session with stories and music on the Windrush theme.

Look out for displays of black interest books, films and music in all libraries throughout October. Class visits to all libraries in October will focus on black history including black achievers, arts and crafts and multicultural Newham.
