The Reduced Shakespeare Company - The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)

Stratford Circus kicks off its exciting autumn season of performances with The Reduced Shakespeare Company and their hit West End production of The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged). The original "Bad Boys of Abridgement" are back with their reductive sensibilities to this irreverent celebration of "the greatest story ever accepted as fact."

The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged), Stratford Circus, 4 - 6 September 2008

As part of Stratford Circus UPfront East Artistic programme Stratford Circus presents The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged)

"Slick, fast and funny. This threesome's seamless patter evokes the spirit of vaudeville." Evening Standard

"Another relentlessly enjoyable romp." The Guardian

The production written by Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor is an affectionate roller coaster ride from fig leaves to Final judgment, and has been praised by the Sunday Times as "a slick, fast, very funny show." Directed by RSC veteran Matt Rippy, who is well-known to UK audiences as an actor, on shows such as Torchwood and movies; Hellboy ll and The Dark Knight. The UK Tour starts and runs from the 4 to the 6 September 2008, at Stratford Circus.

One of the most popular shows in the reduced repertoire of "the other RSC", The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) is fun for the whole family, and the show appeals to ages 13 to 113. These three cultural guerrillas tackle the great theological questions: Did Adam and Eve have navels? Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston? And why isn't the word "phonetic" spelled the way it sounds?

The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) ran at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End in 1997. It later ran at the Criterion Theatre in the West End from 2003 to 2006. The company have toured all parts of the world, performing in the USA, and right through to Singapore and Australia. The Reduced Shakespeare Company comedy is inspired by the Marx Brothers, Monty Python, classic Warner Brothers cartoons, the Three Stooges and Tom Lehrer.

"Not even the most sombre, uptight Scientologist could take offence at this snappy, slick and utterly entertaining show." Scottish Sunday Express
